About us

Alain & Veerle

For us, everything starts from passion, enthusiasm, and perseverance. This is the common thread running through our professional and sporting lives.

We love Spanish culture, the Spanish language, and of course the atmosphere, the sun, the sea, and the mountains. It is the ideal place to combine relaxation and physical effort in all its forms.

Since the year 2000, we have been traveling to Spain and have visited many regions, but it is in Calpe that we truly lost our hearts.

For my husband Alain, it is about conquering the mountains, feeling the cramps in his calves, meeting himself and his riding buddies—and seeing them suffer too. Pushing each other forward when the climb becomes tough, laughing at each other’s antics, feeling the strong sense of connection and friendship, and experiencing the emotions when you reach your goal—such as climbing the Coll de Rates, El Miserat, Guadalest, Puerto de Pedramala, Bèrnia—often followed by a well-deserved pit stop at Velosol, and so much more. And as the cherry on the cake, there are sometimes unexpected opportunities to join rides with professional cyclists during their training camps.

The breathtaking views do not only captivate us, but everyone’s eyes: tourists, hikers, cyclists, padel players.

The microclimate of the Costa Blanca is a perfect environment for young and old(er): mild winters, delightful summers, abundant sunshine (more than 300 sunny days a year), and minimal rainfall.

Another major advantage is the easy accessibility back and forth between Belgium and Spain, whether by plane or by car.

As for me, Veerle, I have been passionate about the Spanish language for many years. I love the family atmosphere, the delicious food, my mother spends her winters there, and over time we have built a strong professional, sporting, and social network. Going to Calpe always feels like “coming home”!

Since the end of 2024, we have discovered padel through friends. What started as a recreational game among friends quickly evolved into playing several times a week, and with our well-known sporting drive, trying to take the game to a higher level.

And Spain just happens to be the padel country par excellence. After football, it is the most popular sport.

Padel originated in 1969 in Mexico, created by Mr. Enrique Corcuera in his own backyard (Padel Corcuera). Through the Spanish Prince Alfonso de Hohenlohe, a frequent guest of the wealthy Mexican businessman, the sport was introduced to Spain in 1974 (among the elite in Marbella), from where it quickly spread to other Latin American countries, including Argentina. By the 1990s, padel was a well-established sport in Spain and Latin America. It was only in 1991 that the International Padel Federation (FIP) was founded in Belgium, and in the 2000s padel began to gain international recognition.

Thanks in part to intensive padel lessons with top coaches within our network and in our “backyard” (the North Costa Blanca region), we have already been able to significantly improve our technique and level.

In terms of location and top-level coaching, we couldn’t be better placed than there—our beloved Spain, right at the source. And so, all the puzzle pieces fall perfectly into place!

The Costa Blanca offers everything: microclimate, sun-sea-beach, sport & relaxation, culture & history, nature & recreation, food & beverage… something for everyone! Getting bored is allowed—but highly unlikely ;-)

We would love to let you enjoy all the beauty our region has to offer.

Warm and sporty greetings,
Veerle & Alain
